Detection of Potential Transit Signals in 17 Quarters of Kepler Data: Results of the Final Kepler Mission Transiting Planet Search (Dr25)

Abstract: We present results of the final Kepler Data Processing Pipeline search for transiting planet signals in the full 17-quarter primary mission data set. The search includes a total of 198,709 stellar targets, of which 112,046 were observed in all 17 quarters and 86,663 in fewer than 17 quarters. We report on 17,230 targets for which at least one transit signature is identified that meets the specified detection criteria: periodicity, minimum of three observed transit events, detection statistic (i.e., signal-to-n… Show more

“…40 The DR25 obsTCEs were created by running the SOC 9.3 version of the Kepler Pipeline on the DR25, Q1-Q17 Kepler time series. For a thorough discussion of the DR25 TCEs and on the pipeline's search, see Twicken et al (2016).…”

“…Assembling the Kepler planet catalogs required the extraordinary effort and devotion of the Kepler team members Batalha et al 2013;Burke et al 2014;Rowe et al 2015). Also essential was the painstaking engineering behind the photometer (Caldwell et al 2010;Bryson et al 2010;Haas et al 2010;Gilliland et al 2011), as well as the software engineering that transformed CCD pixel values into planet candidates (Batalha et al 2010a(Batalha et al , 2010bGilliland et al 2010;Jenkins et al 2010;Torres et al 2011;Christiansen et al 2012Christiansen et al , 2013Christiansen et al , 2015Christiansen et al , 2016Kinemuchi et al 2012;Smith et al 2012Smith et al , 2016Stumpe et al 2012;Bryson et al 2013;Tenenbaum et al 2013Tenenbaum et al , 2014McCauliff et al 2015;Thompson et al 2015;Twicken et al 2016). …”

“…Whether this system has low spin-orbit angle or not may provide a key zeroth-order test of origin scenarios of spinorbit misalignments and competing migration paradigms for hot Jupiters. Kepler-9b has very large planet-star size ratio of R R 0.0842 0.0069 Twicken et al 2016)-among the largest ratios yet detected in multiplanet systems. It thus offers a rare opportunity to carry out a spin-orbit angle measurement in a multiplanet system.…”
