Determinación de resistencia antihelmíntica frente a ivermectina de nematodos del bovino en dos predios del sur de Chile

Abstract: SUMMARYAnthelminthic resistance of bovine nematodes against ivermectin was determined in two farms in the south of Chile: one of them located near Purranque (Farm 1) and the other near San Pablo (Farm 2), in which 14 and 22 bovines aged 7 to 8 months were treated with 0.2 ml/kg of ivermectin, respectively. Faecal samples were obtained from each animal 7 days before and 21 days after the treatment to carry out the faecal egg count reduction test (FECRT). A 90.3% of egg count reduction was found in Farm 1, with … Show more

“…It binds glutamate ‐ gated chloride channel of parasite leading to increased permeability and hyperpolarisation of its nerve and muscle cells. Moreover, it interacts with other chloride channels (Sievers & Alocilla, ). Ivermectin was characterised by its high lipid solubility, so it is widely distributed within the whole body and is mainly metabolised by oxidative pathways via the liver and excreted mainly in the faeces.…”

“…Most of the times, IVM has been adopted as the only tool for anthelmintic control, without considering other epidemiologic variables (Sievers & Alocilla 2007, Canul-Ku et al 2011. In Argentina, the ϐirst references to anthelmintic resistance to IVM in cattle were made by Fiel et al (2000Fiel et al ( , 2001 and Anziani et al (2001), and afterwards, cases of anthelmintic resistance to different chemical groups of drugs have been frequently described (Mejia et al 2003, Anziani et al 2004, Caracostantogolo et al 2005.…”

“…Most of the studies included in this SR and MA reported using a dosage of 0.2mg/Kg (ALONSO-DIAZ et al 2015;ARANTES et al, 1995;CANUL-KU et al, 2012;CONDI et al, 2009;LLORENS et al, 2014;MENA et al, 2008;RANGEL et al, 2005;RANJAN et al, 1992;SIEVERS & FUENTEALBA, 2003;SIEVERS & ALOCILLA, 2007;STAFFORD & COLES, 1999). Correct dosing in the application of anthelmintic drugs may prevent the development of AHR (LESPINE et al, 2012), but farmers sometimes treat animals at dose rate below those recommended by the manufacturer.…”
