Penelitian ini menganalisis factor penentu Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) di negara-negara anggota D-8 dengan menggunakan Model Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) selama periode 1990-2021. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi hubungan antara pertumbuhan ekonomi, suku bunga, dan ekspor terhadap FDI di negara D-8. Hasil penelitian menggambarkan bahwa pertumbuhan ekonomi tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap FDI pada negara D-8. Namun, suku bunga memiliki pengaruh yang positif signifikan terhadap FDI di negara-negara D-8. Ini menunjukkan bahwa ketika suku bunga naik, minat investor untuk berinvestasi di negara D-8 juga meningkat. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekspor berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap FDI di negara-negara D-8. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan ekspor dapat menarik lebih banyak investasi langsung asing ke negara-negara D-8. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi kebijakan yang penting bagi negara-negara D-8 dalam meningkatkan FDI. Diperlukan kebijakan yang mendukung suku bunga yang menarik bagi investor asing serta pendorong untuk meningkatkan ekspor guna menarik investasi langsung asing. Fokus juga perlu diberikan pada upaya meningkatkan daya tarik investasi, meningkatkan iklim investasi, dan membangun infrastruktur yang kuat guna meningkatkan FDI di negara-negara D-8.

As an investment intervention policy, NIL is present to grant legal certainty to investors and invite more investment. Its existence has possible impacts on investment decisions. However, the studies of its effect are limited, focusing only on specific NIL versions and sectors. To fill this gap, the present paper investigates the impact of NIL introduction on the investment decisions of foreign and domestic investors in Indonesia by utilizing all NIL versions and business field-level data of the planned investment values from 2005 to 2018. The analysis shows, first, the NIL introduction may generate the investment inflows from both FDI and DDI. Second, there was a parallel movement of crowding-in effect between foreign and national firms responding to the investment opportunities open to both parties. This study suggests that more detailed and transparent information should be provided in the NIL to guarantee its effectiveness.

Foreign Direct Investment Inflow Dynamics: The Case of Central and Eastern Europe

This study investigates the dynamics of foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into Central and Eastern European countries (CEECs) using panel data (1994–2020) analysis methods such as fixed effects, fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) and random effects. Specifically, the study examined what factors could account for the mixed pattern of FDI inflows into CEECs. The mixed results from the existing empirical literature on FDI inflow dynamics triggered the undertaking of this study to contribute to the ongoing debate on the subject. The study notes that infrastructural development, economic growth and domestic investment had a significant positive influence on FDI across all three panel data analysis methods. Other variables that were found to have had a significant positive effect on FDI include (1) complementarity between infrastructural and financial development (fixed effects, random effects), (2) trade openness (fixed effects) and (3) savings (random effects, FMOLS). A significant negative impact of the exchange rate on FDI was observed under the FMOLS. CEECs are therefore urged to implement policies to increase infrastructural development, financial development, trade openness and savings to enhance the inflow of FDI. Future studies should investigate the minimum threshold levels of the explanatory variables of FDI.
