Determination of fluoroquinolones, sulfonamides, and tetracyclines multiresidues simultaneously in porcine tissue by MSPD and HPLC–DAD

Abstract: An efficient method is provided to detect simultaneously some important veterinary drugs from different classes in highly complex animal tissue matrix. This method using matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with diode array detection (DAD) is developed to effectively determine two fluoroquinolones (enoxacin and lomefloxacin), two sulfonamides (sulfanilamide and sulfamethoxazole) and one tetracycline (tetracycline) simultaneously in porcine tissues. In the proce… Show more

“…Detection of ciprofloxacin by HPLC using spectroscopic detector resulted in high yield recovery of 75-84% within 13.8 and 15 min [53,54]; however, ELISA and TLC techniques could be used to detect ciprofloxacin from different samples [55]. The majority of wastewater treatment systems worldwide are not fully equipped to eliminate antibiotics and disinfectants which are not biodegradable, though friendly environment, low cost, and efficient techniques should be assessed to remove antibiotics from wastewater and consequently drinking water [56].…”

“…Methods using HPLC or ultra-HPLC as an analytical technique have received much attention. Many papers describe their use in sulfonamides analysis ( Msagati & Nindi, 2004;Stoev & Michailova, 2000;Vipin, 1992;Won et al, 2011;Yu, Mu, & Hu, 2012).…”

“…Therefore, a suitable sample pretreatment is crucial to improving the purification and specificity before instrumental analysis [24]. Liquid-liquid extraction [25], solid-phase extraction (SPE) [26], dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction [27] and matrix solid-phase dispersion [28] are common sample pretreatments used routinely in pharmaceutical laboratories. Among them, SPE with different sorbents such as C 18 , C 8 , Silica, NH 2 , PCX, and HLB are the most frequently used.…”
