“…These hypotheses include: (i) the Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) deposit related to basin brine (Zheng and Wang, 1991;Zhou et al, 2001;Wu et al, 2013;Zhang et al, 2015), (ii) the Permian Emeishan mantle plume-related deposit (Xie, 1963;Huang et al, 2003Huang et al, , 2010Xu et al, 2014), and (iii) the unique SYG-type deposit that are different from the typical MVT deposit Zhou et al, 2013aZhou et al, -c, 2014b. Recently, studies of Cd, Ge and Zn isotopes Zhou et al, 2014a,b;Meng et al, 2015), and in situ trace elements of sphalerite (Ye et al, 2011) have indicated that the ore genesis of these Pb-Zn deposits in the SYG province is Zhou et al, 2013a). (C) Geological detailed map of the Tianqiao to Banbanqiao Pb-Zn ore fields (after Zhou et al, 2014a). complex and cannot easily determined.…”

“…sphalerite, pyrite, chalcopyrite), Fe-oxyhydroxides and iron meteorites, the use of concentrated HNO 3 was sufficient to achieve a complete dissolution and quantitative recovery of Ge in solution. After sample digestion, the solutions were evaporated in open Teflon beaker at temperatures ranging from 120°C (Meng et al 2015), down to 80°C (Escoube et al 2015) or 60°C (Luais 2007). In all cases, the use of HCl or HClO 4 has to be avoided as tests showed that Ge is lost at 85% with HClO 4 and at 100% with HCl even at medium temperature 80°C (Luais 2012) due to the formation of volatile GeCl 4 species (Kaya and Volkan 2011).…”

“…Using these new analytical capabilities, studies have reported Ge isotope variations in lowtemperature Earth surface environments Siebert et al 2006;Escoube et al 2015); coal (Qi et al 2011) and ore deposits Belissont et al 2014;Escoube et al 2015;Meng et al 2015); as well as crustal rocks and meteorites Luais 2007;Escoube et al 2012;Luais 2012). These studies, together with experimental (Pokrovsky et al 2014) and theoretical (Li et al 2009) determination of Ge isotope fractionation factors demonstrate the great potential of Ge isotopes to trace both high-and low-temperature geochemical processes.…”

“…Part 4: Germanium and boron isotopes In Meng et al (2015)'s paper, a single-step, anion-exchange technique for sulfides was evaluated. The recoveries of Ge in four types of sulfides (sphalerite, galena, pyrite, and chalcopyrite) of certified reference materials of China (CRMC) (RGSMRM, 1995, for major and some trace elements) were quantitatively assessed.…”
