“…So, the reduced chromium reacts with the excess of aluminium leading to the formation of AlCr 2 . Sarangi et al 7) have observed in the case of the reduction of V 2 O 5 and MnO 2 with Al the formation of V-Al and Mn-Al intermetallic compounds, respectively.…”

“…Since the aluminothermic reduction of metal oxides is both highly exothermic and rapid reactions, there are few attempts to study the kinetics of such a process. [1][2][3][4] The aluminothermic reduction of Fe 2 O 3 , 5,6) MnO 2 6,7) and V 2 O 5 , 7) have been studied using the simultaneous DTA-TG technique. In a DTA apparatus the heat losses cannot be accurately predicted, therefore it is impossible to estimate precisely the maximum temperature attainable by aluminothermic reacting mixtures in a DTA set-up.…”

“…The nonisothermal values of activation energy for aluminothermic reduction of the following oxides have been reported by the authors: [2,3,4] Table I summarizes these values, obtained using two separate approaches, namely, one by Coats and Redfern [5] and another by Dixit and Ray. [6] In each case, the nonisothermal values are extrapolated to describe a hypothetical situation of isothermal reduction (Figures 1 and 2).…”

“…[1] With a view to investigating the coreduction route, a series of reduction studies involving hydrogen gas has been carried out in this laboratory. This includes the reductions of tungsten oxides [2] and some transition metal tungstates, namely, nickel tungstate, [3] cobalt tungstate, [4] and iron tungstate. [5] As a continuation of the previous investigations, the present work aims at a study of the reduction of NiWO 4 -FeWO 4 solid solutions, (Ni, Fe)WO 4 , by hydrogen.…”
