Determination ofSIRT1rs12778366,FGFR2rs2981582,STAT3rs744166, andRAGErs1800625 Single Gene Polymorphisms in Patients with Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Abstract: Purpose To determine the frequency of the genotype of signal transducer and activator of transcription protein 3 (STAT3) rs744166, sirtuin (SIRT1) rs12778366, fibroblast growth factor (FGFR2) rs2981582, and advanced glycosylation end product-specific receptor (RAGE) rs1800625 gene polymorphisms in patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). Methods A total of 944 subjects were evaluated, which includes 144 patients with LSCC and 800 healthy controls. The genotyping of STAT3 rs744166, SIRT1 rs127783… Show more

“…It have been demonstrated that a wide array of proteins were involved in the tumorigenesis, progress, metastasis, and drug-resistance of lung cancer [17][18][19]. Among those molecules, PYCR1 represents one of the most seductive proteins because overexpression of PYCR1 was suggested to be the most related factor that contributed to poor outcomes of patients with malignant cancer [11][12][13]. In the present study, we demonstrated that the levels of PYCR1 was signi cantly higher in lung cancer tissues and cells than of the tumor adjacent normal tissues and normal cells.…”

“…The signal transducer and activator of transcription protein (STAT), belongs to the family of cytoplasmic transcription factors, has been demonstrated played signi cant role in the signal transduction through multiple mechanisms [13]. Increasing evidences revealed that the STAT3 was involved in the development and progression of many cancer types through participation in a series of tumorigenic processes such as cell proliferation and survival [14].…”

“…The RAGE rs1800625 polymorphisms were suggested to be associated with increased cancer risk in various cancers. 15 , 17 , 36 , 56 , 57 Previous study has suggested that the C allele of rs1800625 may induce the expression of RAGE, and leads to chronic inflammatory conditions in diabetic retinopathy. 58 Besides, the variant of the RAGE rs1800625 SNP was suggested to be associated with the hypomethylation of the promoter region of RAGE and contribute to the ulcerative colitis risk.…”

“…Genetic variants may cause different SIRT1 expres-72 sions, and it could play an essential role in laryngeal 73 carcinogenesis. However, just one study has investi-74 gated the involvement of SIRT1 single nucleotide poly-75 morphism (SNP) in laryngeal cancer and has not found 76 any associations between LSCC and SIRT1 rs12778366 77 gene polymorphism [34].…”
