“…In addition, the active surface area of modified and non-modified electrodes CuO/1E3MIBF 4 /CPE, 1E3MIBF 4 /CPE, CuO/CPE and CPE was obtained based on the Randles-Sevcik equation (in the presence of 1 mM K 4 Fe(CN) 6 ). 32 The active surface areas of CPE, CuO/CPE, 1E3MIBF 4 /CPE and CuO/1E3MIBF 4 /CPE were calculated equals; 0.28, 0.31, 0.32 and 0.33 cm 2 , respectively.…”

“…[27][28][29][30][31] One of the effects of application of nanomaterials is due to the change in the active surface area of electrodes. [32][33][34] This effect and some other effects that appear when the size of particles decreases to nanoscale, cause to improve performance of electrochemical methods. 35 However, application of nanoparticles may have disadvantage effect on the electrochemical signals and increases background currents.…”

“…Various methods based on different analytical procedures have been described in literature for the determination of methimazole including Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry [2][3][4][5][6][7], derivative spectrophotometry [8], Raman spectroscopy [9,10], resonance light scattering spectroscopy [11], chemiluminescence [12][13][14], fluorescence [15,16], capillary electrophoresis [17], immunoassay [18], molecularly imprinted biomimetic sensing [19], Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) [20] and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) [21][22][23][24][25]. Methimazole has been also determined using electrochemical methods by using different chemically modified electrodes through introducing various electron mediators on its surface [26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33].…”

“…inset shows the current densities derived from cyclic voltammograms at the surface of different electrodes confirm catalytic ability of IL/NiO/CNT/CPE. In addition the active surface area of carbon paste electrode and modified electrodes were obtained by cyclic voltammetry using K 3 Fe(CN) 6 as a probe at different scan rates[25] .The results obtained were as follows:0.09, 0.16, 0.17 and 0.22 cm 2 for CPE, NiO/CNT/CPE, IL/CPE and IL/NiO/CNT/CPE, respectively. To study the effect of potential scan rate (v) on the oxidation current, cyclic voltammograms of 300 mol L −1 NA (pH=7.0) were recorded at IL/NiO/CNT/CPE with different scan rates (Figure 4). The results showed that there was a linear relationship between the peaks current and the square root of scan rateaccording to regression equationof:I pa =0.5899 v 1/2 +1.4608 (R 2 =0.994, I pa in A and v inmVs −1 )This linear relation indicated that the electrode process is controlled under the diffusion step.In order to calculate transfer coefficient (α), Tafel plotswere developed for IL/NiO/CNT/CPE using the data derived from the raising part of the current-voltage curves with two scan rates (Figure 5).The slope of the Tafel plot is equal to 2.3RT/ n(1−α)F .…”
