Abstract

Day surgery is a surgical procedure in which most of the patients who are found suitable as a result of preoperative medical evaluations are operated and discharged on the same day. In an ambulatory surgery unit, patients usually discharged within 1-6 hours, however, longer stays may be required in case more surgical procedures needed. 1,2 Nowadays, day surgery preferred because of its advantages such as high patient satisfaction, shorter hospital stay, early mobilization, less hospital-acquired infection and venous thromboembolism, low mortality and morbidity rates, and faster return to daily life.
