Introduction:
During the development of novel Re-188 radiopharmaceuticals, it was
discovered that no calibration settings were published to calibrate Re-188 on the Capintec CRC25PET dose calibrator.
Methods:
Thus, an elution of sodium [188Re]perrhenate from an OncoBeta 188W/188Re generator
was used to measure activity on a Capintec CRC-25R dose calibrator using established dose calibrator settings provided by the manufacturer.
Results:
Thereafter, the same [188Re]perrhenate solution was used to tune the calibration settings
on a Capintec CRC-25PET dose calibrator, accounting for geometry, and thus determine the previously unreported calibration number for measuring Re-188 labelled research samples.
Conclusion:
Breakthrough of <0.01% W-188 was verified via gamma spectroscopy to ensure radionuclidic purity of the [188Re]perrhenate source used for calibration.
