Determination of the number of J/ψ events with J/ψ → inclusive decays

Abstract: The number of J/ψ events collected with the BES detector at the BEPC from June 12 to July 28, 2009 is determined to be (225.3±2.8)×10 6 using J/ψ →inclusive events, where the uncertainty is the systematic error and the statistical one is negligible.

“…The second search for A 0 signal in process J/ψ → γA 0 , A 0 → µ + µ − is performed using 2.25 × 10 8 J/ψ events [16] collected at the peak of J/ψ resonance. Similar strategy used in ψ(2S ) data sample has been used here.…”

“…The invisible decay of η and η ′ has been studied with 2.25 × 10 8 J/ψ events [16] at BESIII experiment. The process J/ψ → ϕη (′) is used, in which the ϕ candidate is reconstructed with its decay into K + K − and used to tag η and η ′ .…”

“…Based on a sample of 2.25 × 10 8 J/ψ events [14] taken with the BESIII detector in 2009, we present the results of a study of the decay J/ψ → ηφπ + π − [15]. The Y(2175), also known as φ(2170), resonance is observed in the invariant mass spectrum of φ f 0 (980) with a statistical significance of greater than 10σ.…”

“…where N peaking is the number of peaking background events determined from the background study, N J/ψ is the total number of J/ψ events, which is 2.25 × 10 8 with an uncertainty of 1.2% [14], B(J/ψ → γη c ), B(Σ + → pπ 0 ) and B(π 0 → γγ) are the branching fractions of J/ψ → γη c , Σ + → pπ 0 and π 0 → γγ, respectively [1], and ε is the total detection efficiency. The branching fraction of η c → Ξ −Ξ+ is calculated with:…”

“…Further calculations on the branching fractions of η c → B 8B8 , χ c0 → B 8B8 and h c → B 8B8 based on charmed-meson loops were carried out [13], and the results agree with the measured branching fractions of η c → pp and η c → ΛΛ. Using a sample of 2.25 × 10 8 J/ψ events [14] collected with the BESIII detector in 2009, we measure the branching fractions of η c → Σ +Σ− and η c → Ξ −Ξ+ for the first time via the J/ψ → γη c radiative decay process.…”
