Determination of Total N-Nitroso Compounds by Chemical Denitrosation Using CuCl

Abstract: A method for the determination of total N-nitroso compounds (NOC) by chemical denitrosation and subsequent chemiluminescence detection of evolved NO is described. Denitrosation was accomplished with CuCl in HCl at 70 degrees C. The detection limit for N-nitrosoproline (NPRO) was 1 pmol. NO formation from NPRO was linear (R(2) = 0.999) from 4 pmol to 2 nmol. Among the possible interfering compounds tested, only S-nitroso compounds contribute any significant interference. This method had several advantages over … Show more

“…Another method uses denitrosation mixture of cuprous chloride and hydrogen chloride. The authors of this method use one-part commercially available equipment which allows significant simplification of ATNC method and reduces problems with the relatively large apparatus used in the original method (Wang et al, 2005). However, these methods have so far been used only with meat products, soy sauce and drinking or pool water.…”

“…Další z těchto metod využívá denitrosace pomocí směsi chloridu měďného a kyseliny chlorovodíkové. Autoři této metody využili aparatury, sklá-dající se z komerčně dostupné jednokusové reakční nádoby, která umožnila výrazné zjednodušení této metody a snížila případné problémy spojené s relativně velkou aparaturou původní metody (Wang et al, 2005). Tyto metody však byly dosud aplikovány pouze na masné výrobky, sójovou omáčku a pitnou a bazénovou vodu.…”

“…The nitric oxides derived were detected by TEA. By this method were determined some volatile N-nitrosamines and the non-volatile N-nitrosamine NPRO.According to Wang et al, 2005, a mixture of CuCl in 6N HCL could also make the denitrosation.Sachetto et al, 1992, described a HPLC determination of non-volatile N-nitrosamines followed by voltammetric detection.Authors involved in food chemistry were mainly dealing with the problem of measurement of non-volatile N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosoamino acids. Pollock, 1981, made a first attempt for systematic determinations of NPRO and NSAR in malt by using an extraction with ethyl acetate followed by derivatization with diazomethane and determination by CG-TEA.…”

“…Besides, the family of the alky-and arylaminodogen radicals have been involved in cancer formation, and they are also important intermediates in organic chemistry. Therefore, much research work has been devoted to the formation and chemical properties of these radicals in solutions with the technique of ESR (Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy) [68,69] . As is shown above, in situ PES coupled with double-heater inlet system has been proved to be a powerful tool to generate and characterize transient free radicals in the gas phase, through the pyrolysis of suitable precursors.…”
