“…The BPHA-CHCl 3 extraction system is advantageous over ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDC)-MIBK for extracting antimony from water samples and the subsequent determination by ETAAS at concentrations even down to 0.2 μg L −1 using Cu as a matrix modifier. The BPHA-CHCl 3 system also extracts Mo and V. 139 BPHA initially behaved as a suitable chelating agent for V, although other authors also used N -cinnamoyl- N -phenyl hydroxyl amine (CPHA) for the same purpose. In the ETAAS analysis of V, CPHA exhibited a better sensitivity than BTHA, although CPHA also simultaneously extracted other elements, generating potential interferent effects.…”

“…136,137 Several amines are used as complexing agents in combination with ETAAS (Fig. 2 and Table 3): N-benzoyl-N-phenyl hydroxyl amines (BPHA), 40,138,139 aromatic O-diamines (phenylene diamine), 140 N-benzoyl-O-tolyl hydroxylamine (BTHA), Ncinnamoyl-N-(2,3-xylyl)hydroxyl amine (CXHA) 135 TOA, 36,141 ethylenediamine, 142 and amberlite LA-2 (secondary amine). 143 Similarly, as in FAAS, the amines used in ETAAS are usually tertiary, behaving as liquid exchangers and chelating agents in extracting non-solvated salts.…”

“…Solvent extraction with IV-benzoyl-lV-phenylhydroxylamine with subsequent graphite furnace atomic absorption determination of the vanadium in the extract has been reported for iron and steel analysis (252). The furnace method has also been used directly for acid solutions of steels (84).…”
