Each state in Malaysia interprets asnaf al gharimin differently due to the different ijtihad from the mufti. This study aims to analyze the application of asnaf al gharimin based on Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS). Qualitative method based on interview is used in this article and supported by library research. The finding shows that LZS has focused on four categories of debt to be given zakat aid in the types of asnaf gharimin, including medical/ dialysis treatment assistance, life necessities assistance, management of the corpse without the heir, and debt association due to public concern. The purpose of this study was to find out how the pattern and implementation of the distribution of ZISWAF funds as part of Islamic teachings in the context of regional recovery after the Mount Semeru eruption disaster. This study uses a qualitative approach, with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation as well as conducting validity tests through triangulation of sources and techniques. The data analysis went through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that there is a program implementation that is running well at BAZNAS Lumajang. This can be seen from the results that have been felt by the community after the implementation of the program, starting from the initial stages of prevention to recovery. In addition, the establishment of cooperation and synergy between local governments, DPRD and Baznas in post-disaster recovery efforts. So that the programs implemented can complement each other, be integrated and have a broad impact on the community.

The use of zakat instruments to overcome socioeconomic problems should be able to provide opportunities for handling the covid-19 pandemic that hit the world today. Handling the covid-19 pandemic requires strategic purpose and refers to benefits, as stated in the concept of Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah. The study aims to analyze the utilization of zakat in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic and its conformity to the perspective of Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive analysis approach from literature studies. The results showed that the utilization of zakat during the pandemic had been carried out by the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) which classified on health, social, economic, educational, and religious aspects. The utilization of zakat carried out by BAZNAS in the efforts to implement covid-19 has implemented the values of Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah consisting of dimensions hifẓ al-dīn, hifẓ al-nafs, hifz al-aql, hifz al-nasl and hifẓ al-māl.
