Determining the most suitable layout of space for the loading units’ handling in the maritime port

Abstract: The main advantages of maritime transport are (1) lowest costs, (2) large-scale carriage capacity, (3) carriage of different goods over long distances and (4) the most acceptable mode of transport in the context of the environment. This mode of transport is considered more profitable and more cost-effective than all other transport modes. Modern maritime ports have become the essential nodal components of freight transport networks. This paper is focused on determining the most suitable layout of space for the… Show more

“…Placing the platforms on a railway wagon creates a trolley handling surface that allows devices to handle along the ramp, railcar and container in the logistics chain. The "ramp-ramp" delivery system of goods is created [4,5]. The platforms can be easily loaded and secured by means of corner fixing elements on a railway carriage, or can be removed and folded into a deck in the combined transport terminal.…”

“…From the mathematical viewpoint, the minimum value for the criterion function should be found. The proposed solution for the allocation task (relationships, algorithms) was developed according to [30][31][32][33][34], and is thoroughly described in [35].…”

“…Nowadays, AGV systems play an increasingly important role in the handling of sea containers [15]. Compared to conventional AGV systems that are used in various types of logistics processes, those driven at the maritime reloading sites are primarily powered by diesel engines [16]. In addition, their operation requires other factors to be taken into account, that are not accounted for in conventional AGV systems.…”
