COVID-19 presents a formidable challenge to global tourism. One of the emergency measures adopted by the Macau restaurant industry has been to increase its revenue by joining an online-to-offline (O2O) platform. Nevertheless, are there any risks that follow these opportunities? This article aims to explore whether any risks follow these opportunities, which could extend the literature. Study 1 explores the key factors that customers focus on by analyzing the content of customer reviews published on the Aomi platform through Python. Results show that brand credibility, freshness, and taste remained prominent in the customers’ dining experience. Packaging, delivery quality, and hygiene emerged as new factors due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the popularity of the O2O platform. Customers and staff continued to participate in service interactions through these online channels. Meanwhile, Study 2 contributes to the present understanding of O2O services in restaurants by interviewing catering professionals, and the results highlight how restaurateurs adopt their strategies on O2O platforms.

Various studies confirmed that the implementation of Environmental Management Systems in a hotel's management and operation could lead to several effects such as cost-saving, image branding, improvement of performance, etc. Additionally, tourists' perceptions of a destination's impacts, environmental consequences of their visits to destinations and demands for environmentally friendly products will likely play a central role in travel decision-making. Purpose:The main purpose of this preliminary study is to explore the customer perceptions on EMS implementation in selected hotels in Malaysia. This study is important to understand the customer's behaviours towards their preferred hotels based on the understanding of environmental management systems applied in the particular hotel's management and operations. Research methods:The study will use structured questionnaire, Descriptive Analysis, Pearson Correlation, Multiple Regression Analysis, F-test and Reliability Analysis are proposed for this study and will be performed to analyze the collected data using Statistical processing SPSS version 22. Results and discussions:The results of this study are intended to fill gaps in the literature by investigating the Malaysian present scenario on environmental management systems and adding to the body of knowledge in this area. Conclusion:The outcome of this study is expected to provide a better understanding of consumer green hotel choices in Malaysia and better account for the discrepancies between environmental believes and their actual hotel decision choices while not putting aside the quality of the service.

Environmental aspects are considered a specific process that requires a multidisciplinary analysis, as the application of indicators in organizations stems from effective performance management; the tourism sector is no exception. In 2015, the United Nations formulated 17 sustainable development goals to contribute to a common vision for people and the planet. The main objective of this study is to propose a framework of science-based environmental sustainability indicators for the hospitality industry, which can be used by hotel managers to improve the efficiency of sustainable management of tourism destinations. This study used a mixed methodology of systematic review and content analysis, which is an innovative methodological approach; an in-depth analysis of various scientific articles, consultancy firms’ websites, and technical books was carried out. The results categorized the environmental indicators into four domains: water, energy, waste, and emissions. After a framework was established with 24 environmental indicators, the most relevant were water consumption per guest, water consumption per occupied room, and energy consumption per square meter/foot. However, there were disparities in the use of indicators between the scientific literature, consultancy firms, and the technical books. In this way, there is a need to create stronger relationships between these sources for effective adoption by hoteliers, allowing for adequate environmental indicators with positive impacts on the tourism destination management.
