<p><span lang="EN-US">This research is an e-module development that aims to support students' learning independence. One of the causes of the students' low learning independence is the lack of teaching materials that can support the students' learning independence. The use of teaching materials and monotonous methods make students lazy and bored in learning so that it impacts the independence of learning. Research and development method of plomp models used in this study which consists of a preliminary research stage (Preliminary Research), the design phase or prototype (Development of Prototype phase), and the assessment phase. The research This research was conducted at a high school in the city of Padang class XI IPA. The validity test was given to 2 material expert lecturers, 2 media expert lecturers, and 1 linguist lecturer, and tested by 2 educators and 15 students for practicality, and 20 students for effectiveness. The results of this study are said to be very valid with a value of 90.66, very practical with a value of 94.5, and very effective with a value of 89.2. Based on data acquisition, it appears that the E-Module physics uses “Construct 2” to support the learning independence of students categorized as very valid, very practical, and very effective in learning physics.</span></p>

Background: Human illnesses caused by parasites, viruses, and bacteria that are transmitted by vectors are called vector-borne diseases. Vector-borne diseases usually affect the poorest populations, particularly where there is a lack of access to adequate housing, safe drinking water, and sanitation. This community-based cross-sectional study was, conducted to assess the prevalence of self-reported vector-borne diseases and associated factors in the rural communities of northwest Ethiopia. Methods: A community-based cross-sectional study design with structured observation was conducted among 1191 randomly selected rural households in northwest Ethiopia from April to June 2017. Data were collected by using a structured questionnaire; and observation checklist. Multivariable binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify variables associated with the prevalence of self-reported vector-borne diseases on the basis of adjusted odds ratio (AOR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) and P-values <.05. Results: In the current study, 216 (18.1%) of the rural households reported one or more vector-borne diseases. Scabies (9.5%) were the most reported vector-borne disease followed by Malaria (6.9%). The prevalence of self-reported vector-borne diseases was statistically associated with the head of the family (mother) (AOR = 0.13, 95% CI = 0.02-0.72), regular cleaning of the living environment (AOR = 0.51, 95% CI = 0.36-0.74), poor cleanness of the living rooms (AOR = 1.77, 95% CI = 1.03-3.03), and moderate cleanness of the floor (AOR = 1.64, 95% CI = 1.06-2.52). Conclusion: The prevalence of self-reported vector-borne diseases was high in the rural communities of northwest Ethiopia. The low prevalence was associated with family head; regular cleaning of living environment and cleanness of the floor. Designing and strengthening an intervention strategy for environmental sanitation, regular cleaning of living house, and keeping personal hygiene shall be considered.

Mathematics learning innovations in teaching materials used in schools are still in the form of printed books from the government. In 4.0 era, the use of technology can be used to make teaching materials in the form of e-modules or electronic modules using the Kvisoft Flipbook application. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity, practicality, and student responses to the design of the number pattern e-module based on mathematical creative thinking skills using the kvisoft flipbook application so that it can be used as a learning resource for students both in the classroom learning process and independent learning. The method used in this study is a research and development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. The data collection technique used is through a validation questionnaire, user practicality questionnaire and student response questionnaire to e-modules. The results of the study show that this e-module is very feasible to use with the results of material expert validation, media expert validation, user practicality, and student responses to e-modules. Based on the results of this study, the design of the e-module using the kvisoft flipbook maker application based on mathematical creative thinking skills is appropriate for use in the learning process for class VIII number pattern material
