Outsourcing drives companies to focus on: their capabilities, advantages of external resources, and decreasing overall operational costs. Selecting appropriate alliances, which are aligned with the company's strategies, establishes a situation through which the firms can enhance their technical capabilities and achieve new technologies. However, two critical issues in outsourcing modeling should be addressed: how to find strategic indicators for building successful alliances, and how to select these partners. Besides, as the imprecise and vague information (due to a lack of data) existing in the outsourcing models cannot be neglected, the application of fuzzy interval sets could efficiently address the complexity of these problems.To deal with these issues, this paper proposes a two-step interval-based framework for the problem. At the beginning, and for the first time, the novel integration of an interval valued fuzzy (IVF) version of strength-weakness-opportunity-threats (SWOT) technique and the quantitative strategic planning matrix (QSPM) with Gap analysis is designed to find the most effective strategies for the alliance evaluation, and to weight them. In the next step, four interval-valued version of multiple criteria decision-making methods (IVF-MCDMs) are implemented to evaluate the strategic partners.Finally, the results are aggregated with the help of the utility interval approach, and a sensitivity analysis is implemented to assess the robustness of the proposed methodology. To illustrate the efficiency of the proposed approach, a real partner selection problem at a holding car manufacturing factory in Iran is presented.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the influence of internal and external factors of SNOWA Corporation on its marketing strategic planning. Is there a relationship between internal and external factors and strategic marketing planning? How severe is this relationship? Design/methodology/approach The present study is an applied research using a descriptive-analytic method. The statistical sample of this research includes 300 personnel of SNOWA Corporation. Data were collected applying a standard questionnaire in a five-point Likert scale. Content validity ratio and content validity index were used to evaluate the content validity of the questionnaire, and a Cronbach’s alpha test was applied to assess its reliability. SPSS Software (factor analysis) and Amos Software (structural equation modeling) were applied to analyze the collected data. Results of this research show that internal and external factors influence the development of its marketing strategic planning. Findings Results of this research show that internal and external factors influence the development of SNOWA marketing strategic planning. Another result of this study is that the severity of the relationship between the independent and dependent variables varies from the viewpoint of the employees of different departments. Practical implications The study will help managers deal with environmental opportunities effectively while formulating corporation strategies. In addition, findings reveal that having vision and mission help managers find a clear way to reach the goals. Originality value This is one of a few papers to provide empirical evidence of the influence of internal and external factors of SNOWA Corporation on its marketing strategic planning. Identification of the external-internal factors used in formulating marketing strategic planning may prove useful for other researchers working in this under-researched area.

In today’s competitive environment, holding companies are usually unable to successfully compete in production of goods and services due to technological sophistication. Therefore, for success of holding companies, selecting appropriate strategic alliance partner is a critical factor. Accordingly, the aim of the paper is to propose a systematic approach for an effective partner selection. Firstly, the underlying motivation and reasons for a strategic alliance building are presented using a SWOT analysis. Criteria of partners’ evaluation are attained on the basis of combining strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Due to uncertainty of criteria, they are weighted using fuzzy quantitative strategic planning matrix (FQSPM). Because of a large number of criteria obtained from the SWOT-FQSPM analysis, criteria are diminished based on their weights using the Gap analysis with fuzzy data ranking. In the next step, it is proposed to apply four ranking algorithms including the Fuzzy Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS-F), the Fuzzy Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS-F), the Fuzzy Multi-Objective Optimization by Ratio Analysis (Fuzzy MOORA), and the Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal solution (Fuzzy TOPSIS) to evaluate strategic partners. Finally, the results are combined with the help of the Borda method to choose the best alternative. To illustrate the efficiency of the proposed approach, a real partner selection problem at a holding industries factory in Iran is presented.
