Abstract:Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borne pathogen that causes arthritic disease in humans and is considered a serious health threat in regions where competent mosquito vectors are prevalent. The recent CHIKV epidemic (2004-2014) has resulted in an estimated 1.4-6.5 million cases, involving more than 40 countries.
