“…This biomass, after thermal and chemical treatments, has the potential to be used as an adsorbent applied to water treatment. Recently, the use of activated carbon produced from this biomass has been reported in the removal of metallic ions (Pigatto et al 2020), herbicides (Salomón et al 2021) or antibiotics (Carvalho et al 2019) dissolved in the aqueous phase.
