“…On the basis of the pretreatment of coal reported by Qiu et al [19], the pretreatment of the coal is as follows: firstly, the coal was crushed in a jaw crusher to obtain coal particle below 10 mm, then the coal particles were dried under vacuum at 105 8C for 24 h. The crushed dry coal was comminuted in the ball mill (dry grinding) for 40 min or 3 h. Then, the obtained coal powder was screened through a 70-mesh (0.212 mm) or 100-mesh (0.150 mm) screener, respectively. The two powders with different particle size distribution were mixed according to 1:1 when preparing CWS.…”

“…Such anchoring effects are so strong that the P(SS- co -AA- co -DMDAAC) molecules are adsorbed intensely on the coal surface. Moreover, the COO − groups could combine with metal cations through stable chelate adsorption [ 16 , 30 ], which is also beneficial to adsorption. Consequently, P(SS- co -AA- co -DMDAAC) exhibits superior wetting and adsorbance ability.…”

“…In recent years, copolymers that simultaneously bear various functional groups (such as carboxyl and sulfonic groups) have been developed for use as a novel dispersant for CWS. For instance, various polycarboxylate dispersants with different structures and chemical composition have been reported [ 14 16 ].…”

“…Between them, the dispersant modification is to improve the dispersibility by adding certain dispersant to CB. This procedure is regarded as a simple and convenient method and does not cost much, but the dispersant is susceptible to fall off the textile surface [18][19][20]. The polymer modification is mainly to graft water-soluble and reactive groups on the surface of CB.…”
