Abstract: Distorted Maternal Representations (DMRs) -mother's ideas, understanding, and feelings about the infant -shape early interaction and the emerging relationship. Distorted interactions reportedly affect infant attachment and socioemotional development and may be associated with maternal early adversity and trauma.
