“…The DDads questionnaire is based on several pre-existing tools: an existing questionnaire by Highet et al focusing on maternal depression (22), a literature review on paternal postpartum depression (14), and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)-5 (2013) criteria (23). While all the questions of the questionnaire were developed and put together in English and once the final questions were selected, the forward/backward translation was applied (English to Dutch, JV, FD, DD, MF-Dutch to English, ST, JV, MF), to identify discrepancies between both versions, as is recommended to obtain reliable results and also necessary for validation for the local context (24).
