Development and Validation of Uv-Spectrophotometric Method for Estimation of Hydroquinone in Bulk, Marketed Cream and Preapared NLC Formulation

Abstract: Objective: The aim of the present work was to develop a simple, rapid, accurate and economical UV-visible spectrophotometric method for the determination of hydroquinone (HQ) in its pure form, marketed formulation as well as in the prepared nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) systems and to validate the developed method. Methods: HQ was estimated at UV maxima of 289.6 nm in pH 5.5 phosphate buffer using UV-Visible double beam spectrophotometer. Following the guidelines of the International Conference on Harmoniz… Show more

“…International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Several analytical methods have been reported for the determination of Hydroquinone in pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms using spectrophotometry [5][6][7][8], colorimetric reaction [9], FTIR [9] and capillary electrophoresis [10]. In the presence of treinoin, Hydroquinone has been determined by stability-indicating chromatographic methods [9,11] and spectrophotometric chemometric method [12].…”

“…However, there are other works, based on liquid chromatography, which aimed to detect HQ and BQ in pharmaceuticals, gel and cream preparations, water, and cosmetics [ 40 , 41 , 42 , 43 ]. Spectrophotometric methods have also been used [ 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 ]. Although these methods to measure HQ and BQ levels have been demonstrated to be effective, they still require a minimum of in-presence sample processing and high employment of reagents and time [ 50 , 51 ].…”
