Abstract:This paper discusses the development of a Lagrangian particle method in a discontinuous Galerkin framework to support supersonic dusty flow simulations. This is relevant to reentry flows in the Mars atmosphere, which is characterized by the presence of a large number of suspended dust particles. These dust particles can not only enhance erosion of thermal protection systems but also transfer energy and momentum to the shock layer, increasing surface heat fluxes. This works represents a first step towards enabl… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
