Development of a microwave‐assisted solvent extraction process for the extraction of high‐value carotenoids from Chlorella biomass

Abstract: The commercial production of carotenoids as bioactive commodities from microalgae has been severely limited due to the nature of the microalgal outer cell matrix. Microwave technology offers a rapid method for obtaining larger amounts of these biochemical compounds. The process facilitates cell‐wall rupture, releasing the inner cell components.
