Development of a novel liposomal nanoparticle formulation of cisplatin to breast cancer therapy

Abstract: Cisplatin is one of the conventional drugs used in chemotherapy which has a potent antitumor function. However, due to the dangerous side effects, including the damage to DNA of the normal cells, its clinical use is limited. The aim of this study was to prepare and characterize nanoliposome containing cisplatin. We optimized liposome formulations through the modification of the proportion of SPC80 (soybeanphospholipids with 75% phosphatidylcholine) and cholesterol content. Then, novel PEGylated liposomal formu… Show more

“…Furthermore, the half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC 50 ) of the CDDP-loaded (core/shell)/shell NPs (4.57 ± 0.33 μg/mL) was ≈ 1.6-fold less than that of this platinum-based anticancer drug (7.48 ± 0.37 μg/mL) ( p < 0.05). This greater in-vitro cytotoxic activity agrees with preceding research in which CDDP loading to nanoparticulate systems is postulated to enable cellular uptake in malignant tissues [ 142 , 143 ].…”

“…15,16 Nanotechnology can provide emergence of fundamental changes in how to deal with the approaches to potentially treat cancer. 17,18 On another side, the overuse of antibiotics to kill the bacteria has made them resistant to antibiotics and spread infectious diseases. 19 Therefore, it is essential to look for new antibacterial substances (new generation of antibacterial drugs) to prevent the growth of bacteria.…”

“…Nano-LIP are the most commonly used nano-carrier to deliver drugs to human tissues in clinical applications and have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. 34 OMT has been reported to ameliorate agomelatine-induced hepatocyte toxicity 35 and is safe for the treatment of hepatitis B cirrhosis. 36 Furthermore, OMT improved lesions in patients with severe psoriasis without obvious toxicity.…”
