Development of a Quantitative Method for Detection of Multiclass Veterinary Drugs in Feed Using Modified QuPPe Extraction and LC–MS/MS

Abstract: A method was developed for the rapid and quantitative analysis of 30 veterinary drugs belonging to 17 classes (amphenicols (1), anthelmintics (1), cephalosporins (4), coccidiostats (1), lincosamides (1), macrolide (1), nitroimidazole (1), penicillins (3), phenylhydrazines (1), polypeptides (1), pyrethrins (1), quinolones (5), sulfonamides (3), tetracycline (3), neuroleptic agents (1), triazene trypanocidal agents (1), other. (1)) in feeds. The proposed method with a modified Quick Polar Pesticides (QuPPe) samp… Show more

“…Quinolones are a type of antibacterial medicines used in the treatment of intestines, 23 cancer, 24 bacteria, 25 and parasites. 26 Many important MS methods and related studies focus on the qualitative/ quantitative determination of quinolones 27,28 and their derivatives. 29,30 A few studies have been conducted on fragmentation pathways and mechanism of quinolones.…”

“…Plasma samples have been acidified using inorganic acids, such as hydrochloric acid, to precipitate proteins (Jedziniak et al, 2016). Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe (QuEChERS) is the most common method for food sample preparation and is widely used for multi-class, multi-residue analyses (Hajrulai-Musliu et al, 2021;Jang et al, 2022;Wilkowska & Biziuk, 2011). To determine flunixin and 5hydroxy flunixin contents, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-ultraviolet (UV) spectrometry (Asea et al, 2001;Jedziniak et al, 2016), liquid chromatography (LC)-tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) (Daeseleire et al, 2003;Kruve et al, 2008;Malone et al, 2009), and other methods have been used.…”

“…Moreover, there are few reports on the detection of tralopyril. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) [ 27 , 28 , 29 , 30 ] and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) [ 31 , 32 ] can not only effectively separate and analyze compounds by chromatography, but also effectively qualitatively analyze substances by mass spectrometry. The complementary advantages of chromatography and mass spectrometry can be used for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of complex organic compounds.…”
