“…During home-based training patients are instructed to perform continuous training at a moderate intensity for at least 45 min for 5–7 days per week. Physical activity behaviour is evaluated by the Dutch Standard Healthy Movement Questionnaire, or the International Physical Activity Questionnaire [ 29 , 30 ]. Alternatively, physical activity energy expenditure may be evaluated by an accelerometer and/or heart rate monitor.…”

“…Although a number of instruments are available to assess self-efficacy and self-management in a cardiac population, their focus is commonly on single behaviors such as physical activity, 21 smoking cessation, 22 dietary modification, 23 or weight management 24 . This has limited instruments' usefulness to simultaneously measure the range of lifestyle behaviors recommended to improve outcomes and reduce cardiac risk for cardiovascular patients 25 .…”

“…18 The advantage of using an instrument designed to assess the 2 constructs simultaneously is that information about any incongruence in confidence (self-efficacy) and implementation of health behavior (self-management) can be seen at a glance by a busy clinician and therefore intervention to specifically address self-efficacy, self-management, or both can be tailored to the individual. 19,20 Although a number of instruments are available to assess self-efficacy and self-management in a cardiac population, their focus is commonly on single behaviors such as physical activity, 21 smoking cessation, 22 dietary modification, 23 or weight management. 24 This has limited instruments' usefulness to simultaneously measure the range of lifestyle behaviors recommended to improve outcomes and reduce cardiac risk for cardiovascular patients.…”

“…Liu et al based on the scale by Tokunaga‐Nakawatase et al developed the Chinese version of the Evaluation Scale for Self‐management Behaviour related to Physical Activity of Patients with Coronary Heart Disease (ES‐SMBPA‐CHD) (Tokunaga‐Nakawatase, Taru, & Miyawaki, 2012 ). The scale aims to evaluate the level of Self‐management Behaviour related to Physical Activity of Patients with CHD and includes two subscales, namely “what do you do to enhance your daily physical activity?” and “what do you do to maintain the level of daily physical activity?”.…”
