Development of automated spray pyrolysis setup for chemical vapour deposition like growth of thin solid films

Abstract: A: This paper presents a simple electronic interface for spray pyrolysis to deposit high quality thin solid films. The exhibited electronic circuit with the Arduino based microcontroller is acting as the interface between the primary process parameters and the computer running National Instruments® LabVIEW®. The proposed setup and deposition flow achieve a reproducible, repeatable, and uniform deposition of thin films through the spray pyrolysis technique, which improves the conventional spray pyrolysis techni… Show more

“…The choice of method depends on the specific requirements of research or application, as well as the desired structural and electronic characteristics of the ZnO material. For the fabrication of one-and two-dimensional zinc oxide structures, one method that is used is spray pyrolysis [72,73]. “…The experimental setup for the spray deposition process has been previously described in Ref. [40][41][42]. The resulting films exhibited transparency, amorphous structure, homogeneity, and good adhesion to the substrate.…”

“…Stoichiometry can also easily be controlled in spray pyrolysis. Several parameters which includes drying temperature, spray rate, nozzle to target distance, precursor and solvent govern the properties of spray-deposited ZnO thin films (Rajeshmon, 2013;Jeyadheepan et al, 2019). The influence of solvent on spray-deposited thin films is very crucial because, the residence time of microsized droplets in drying chamber is heavily dependent on vapor pressure of the solvent.…”
