Development of Computer Simulation Software for Single Grain Kernel Drying, Tempering, and Stress Analysis

Abstract: The quality traits of a single grain kernel can produce an index of the overall quality of the bulk grain, as individual kernels comprise a grain bulk. Therefore, single-kernel drying behavior is important in understanding the overall quality of grain. A Matlab based software package with C++ compiler was developed in this study for describing single-kernel drying, tempering, and internal stress analysis. Non-linear and transient partial differential heat and mass transfer equations describing the single kerne… Show more

“…Azmir et al (2018) used a combination of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and discrete element method (DEM) techniques to model and simulate grain drying in a fluidised bed for corn, where the simulation data were consistent with the experimental data. Additionally, Jia et al (2002) developed computer simulation software to calculate drying for a single grain kernel. According to the study, investigating a single kernel in a bulk of grains can indicate the overall quality of the mass.…”

“…Também são reportadas pela literatura soluções analíticas para a difusão de água em corpos na forma de paralelepípedo, esferóides prolatos e esferóides oblatos. Algumas soluções numéricas para tais geometrias também são encontradas na literatura (Lima, 1999;Jia et al, 2001;Nascimento, 2002); entretanto, para uma geometria arbitrária, poucos são os trabalhos disponíveis.…”
