Development of Concrete Extrusion Nozzle for Producing Free-Form Concrete Panels and Extrusion Test

Abstract: FCP (Free-form Concrete Panel) is used to easily realize the huge and complex curved surfaces of free-form buildings, and research on FCP manufacturing technology is being conducted. However, as the concrete was extruded manually into the manufactured mold, the precision of the FCP was lowered and errors occurred. Therefore, this study developed concrete extrusion equipment that includes a nozzle part, an open/close part, and a control part, according to the required performance derived from previous research … Show more

“…The Republic of Korea was ranked third in terms of article numbers and had much emphasis on technology innovation in IR4.0, which included the invention of an ideal route procedure for construction equipment by Lee and Lim [26], as well as the growth of a 3D concrete extrusion nozzle for free-form concrete panels [27]. The study focused on a fundamental investigation of 3D printing methods for FCP manufacture and additional concrete extrusion tests that are required to examine nozzle performance accurately.…”

“…Different curved surfaces and curvatures are used for the exterior, thus giving it a unique design, and they are commonly used in public art facilities, libraries, museums, etc. Due to such characteristics, these buildings can serve as landmarks and have economic and social advantages; therefore, the demand for free-form buildings is growing [1]. But because the exteriors of free-form buildings are enormous, they are difficult to configure at once.…”
