“…Clay was obtained from Galadimawa area in Federal Capital Territory; Abuja, Nigeria with a Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates of 9 • 4 0.0012" N and 7 • 28 59.9988" E at 491 m above sea level. The clay used in this study has been previously characterised in an earlier work by Ngayakamo et al [14], where it was shown that the mineral composition is dominated by kaolinite (Al 2 Si 2 O 5 (OH) 4 ), muscovite (KF) 2 (Al 2 O 3 ) 3 (SiO 2 ) 6 , phengite (K(AlMg) 2 (OH) 2 (SiAl) 10 O 10 ) group of micas and haematite (Fe 2 O 3 ). While the chemical composition of the clay soil mainly consists of 66.10-67.12% silica (SiO 2 ) and alumina (Al 2 O 3 ) between 14.93-19.45.…”

“…The escalating cost of construction materials and dependence on imported building materials have been top on the list of constraints towards provision of adequate housing [7]. One of the ways to tackle this problem is by promoting the development and utilisation of sustainable low-cost materials through usage of earth-based materials (clay), agro-wastes and polymers [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. Research efforts in the use of earth-based materials, agro-wastes and polymers are used to drive the current global shift towards a circular economy where materials are utilised and reused with no waste [16,17].…”

“…With a liquid/cement ratio of 0.55 and a fine/coarse aggregate ratio of 15%, the prepared blocks meet the strength requirements and have good frost resistance [45]. For sintered floor tiles and clay bricks, the addition of granite waste increases the bulk density and mechanical properties [46][47][48]. This is attributable to the densification by liquid-phase sintering and is derived from the low-temperature melting of alkali feldspars in the granite waste.…”

“…et al prepared fired clay bricks by using granite and eggshell powder in order to reduce environmental pollution. The obtained findings showed that the fired clay bricks made of 20% granite and 10% eggshell powder had the best performance [ 21 ].…”
