Development of Electronic Cultural Atlas Korean Mythology-Mapping on Google Map for the Shamanic Myth <Princess Bari>

Abstract

This study is a basic research for developing an Electronic Cultural Atlas of Korean mythology. In this paper, we implemented an Electronic Cultural Atlas on Google Maps by utilizing a basic database for developing an Electronic Cultural Atlas of Korean mythology. The target data is <Princess Bari>, which is passed down throughout the Korean Peninsula except for Jeju Island. <Princess Bari> is a shamanistic myth that is passed down in all regions of Korea except for Jeju Island. We selected the elements of <Princess Bari>, content elements, and geographic information. The selected data was converted to Excel and mapped on Google Maps. This study is the first study to implement Korean mythology into an Electronic Cultural Atlas, and the first study to display the performances and contents of Korean mythology in an atlas.
