Development of micro–mesoporous composite material of the ZSM-12/MCM-41 type for the CO2 adsorption

Abstract: In the present work, ZSM-12/MCM-41 micromesoporous composite materials were synthesized by hydrothermal method and characterized by X-ray diffraction, N 2 adsorption-desorption at 77 K and transmission electron microscopy, were carried out for characterization. The diffractograms indicated that the synthesized materials present characteristic peaks of the microporous (ZSM-12) and mesoporous (MCM-41) structures. The micro-mesoporous composite materials presented a higher CO 2 adsorption capacity than MCM-41 mes… Show more

“…Santos et al fabricated micro/mesoporous composites containing zeolite ZSM-12 and mesoporous silica MCM-41 via the self-assembly procedure. 23 At 25 C and CO 2 partial pressure of 101 kPa, the composite ZSM-12/MCM-41 displayed a better capacity (0.94 mmol g À1 ) than those of ZSM-12 (0.86 mmol g À1 ) and MCM-41 (0.27 mmol g À1 ), 23 which is attributed to the synergistic effect. What's more, further improvement in the adsorption performance may be achieved aer amine modication.…”

“…If the temperature is decreased to 533 K, the differences of conversion and DME selectivity between CZZL1H and CZZL0H become much larger ( Table 2). It is also noted that the selectivity of CO is high (about 30%), which may due to the higher reaction temperature of 543 K. CO was produced by reverse watergas reaction, the reaction has endothermic character, as shown in reaction (2). Meanwhile, compared to methanol synthesis, the RWGS reaction has a higher apparent activation energy [23], indicating that the increase in CO production is faster than that of methanol with higher reaction temperature.…”

“…This proton originating from the decomposition of the ammonium ion binds to the oxygen close to the structural aluminum, generating an acid Brönsted site, making the surface acidic. The procedure for obtaining zeolite was adapted from previous works in the literature [13] [14]. Cerium oxide (CeO 2 ) was calcined in an air atmosphere at 400˚C in a muffle furnace with a heating rate of 10˚C/min for 2 hours.…”

“…The zeolite obtained in its acid form was impregnated with cerium oxide through the mechanic synthesis process according to a procedure adapted from Santos [13]. Impregnation was carried out by adding 10% and 20% by mass of cerium oxide to the zeolite.…”
