While adding superabsorbent polymer hydrogel particles to fresh concrete admixtures, they act as internal curing agents that absorb and then release large amounts of water and reduce self-desiccation and volumetric shrinkage of cement that finally result in hardened concrete with increased durability and strength. The entrainment of microscopic air bubbles in the concrete paste can substantially improve the resistance of concrete. When the volume and distribution of entrained air are adequately managed, the microstructure is protected from the pressure produced by freezing water. This study addresses the design and application of hydrogel nanoparticles as internal curing agents in concrete, as well as new findings on crucial hydrogel–ion interactions. When mixed into concrete, hydrogel particles produce their stored water to power the curing reaction, resulting in less volumetric shrinkage and cracking and thereby prolonging the service life of concrete. The mechanical and swelling performance qualities of the hydrogel are very sensitive to multivalent cations found naturally in concrete mixes, such as aluminum and calcium. The interactions between hydrogel nanoparticles and alkaline cementitious mixes are described in this study, while emphasizing how the chemical structure and shape of the hydrogel particles regulate swelling behavior and internal curing efficiency to eliminate voids in the admixture. Moreover, in this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) was utilized to precisely and quickly analyze the test results of the compressive strength and durability of concrete. The addition of multivalent cations reduced swelling capacity and changed swelling kinetics, resulting in fast deswelling behavior and the creation of a mechanically stiff shell in certain hydrogel compositions. Notably, when hydrogel particles were added to a mixture, they reduced shrinkage while encouraged the creation of particular inorganic phases within the void area formerly held by the swelled particle.

The use of modern information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the learning process has many advantages, but, as recent research has shown, their introduction into the teaching process is rather slow and complex. The rapid development of ICT has caused many changes in society and, consequently, in the education process. The integration of ICT into the teaching process transforms traditional teaching into new teaching that is ready to respond to the demands and needs of a contemporary learner to increase the quality of education: better student motivation, use of different sources of knowledge, development of functional abilities of students, and the ultimate goal is to increase learning outcomes. For that reason, this article explores the possibilities and ways of introducing GeoGebra's mathematical software in geometry classes and its impact on teaching and understanding of processed material by students. In this study, we analyze the influence of educational software in mathematics lectures. The main goal of educational software is to improve teaching performances and make mathematics attractive for the teaching and learning process as well. Educational software represents a combination of ICT and electronic learning (e-learning). Taking into account the specifics of the application of these technologies in different scientific disciplines, the aim of this article is to analyze the impact of the teachers' scientific field on the effects of the application of these technologies in selected higher education institutions. The research included teachers from 10 faculties and 3 schools of applied studies, who provided answers to 20 survey questions. A questionnaire study was applied to obtain training and testing data for statistical evaluation. The statistical analysis was based on an adaptive neurofuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The results confirm that the educational software in mathematics lectures is a very important factor for improvement of the teaching process. The effects of this software on motivation, interest, and confidence of the course's participants were observed. The use of ICTs through the use of GeoGebra will be a new challenge for both teachers and students. An assessment of the motivation and achievement of two groups of students was carried out. Considering the unique conditions of deep and large subway foundation pit excavation affected by heavy rainfall in soil-rock composite strata, this paper employs finite element numerical simulation methods to study foundation pit instability under the influence of heavy rainfall. According to the hydraulic coupling conditions caused by rainfall, a fluid-solid coupling numerical model for a deep and large subway foundation pit in soil-rock composite strata is established in this paper. By selecting the Anshan road station of Qingdao subway line 4 as the engineering background, various parameters related to foundation pit excavation affected by heavy rainfall at different excavation depths were analyzed. The study found that after the foundation pit was excavated, the surrounding pore water pressure decreased and the pore water pressure near the ground surface increased rapidly due to rainfall. As the horizontal distance from the foundation pit increased, the pore water pressure at the same depth also increased. The excavation of the foundation pit caused uplift of the bottom of the pit. After rainfall, the uplift value decreased compared with that before rainfall. With increasing excavation depth, the decreased value of the bottom uplift decreased and then increased. The rainfall caused the horizontal displacement of the pit walls on both sides of the pit to increase. When the excavation depth was 10 m, the horizontal displacements on both sides of the pit were equivalent. When the excavation depth was 20 m, the horizontal displacement was concentrated in the first 10 m; when the excavation depths were 30 m and 40 m, the horizontal displacement was concentrated in the first 13 m. This finding shows that when the foundation pit was affected by rainfall, the sidewall collapsed at a distance of 13 meters from the ground. As the excavation depth increased, the depth of excavation instability was closer to the bottom of the pit. The research in this paper can provide a reference for the construction of deep and large foundation pits in similar composite ground conditions that are affected by rainfall.
