Development of nitrile rubber/eucommia ulmoides gum composites for controllable dynamic damping and sound absorption performance

Abstract: Nitrile rubber (NBR)/Eucommia ulmoides gum (EUG) composites were successfully fabricated with controllable dynamic damping and sound absorption performances, owing to the changeable EUG crystal number in different NBR/EUG composites.

“…The matrix of the traditional anechoic coating mostly comprises a rubber material, which has a low modulus and is prone to considerable deformation under high hydrostatic pressure. Hence, Su et al (2022) included Eucommia rubber into the viscoelastic matrix of the covering layer, which effectively improved the pressure resistance and sound absorption performance of the pure rubber matrix. Fu et al (2021a) added carbon nanotubes and graphene nanosheets to improve the pressure resistance and sound absorption performance of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).…”

“…Not only that, mechanical vibration makes the accuracy and life of the machine also suffer [3]. Soundabsorbing materials have wide range of application prospects, and sound-absorbing materials have excellent damping properties [4].…”

“…Currently, in order to enhance the understanding of the influence of high hydrostatic pressure on the polymer, a variety of theoretical calculations and experimental studies have been studied [5][6][7][8][9] . Liu et al proposed a modified Williams -Lendel -Ferry ( WLF ) equation under pressure for studying the basic theory of the damping properties of rubber [5] .…”
