Development of NMR: Physics, “Exotica,” and Related Areas

Abstract

This article briefly reviews several areas of physics and related fields in which magnetic resonance has made important progress since 1995. These areas include studies of the superconductivity mechanism in high-temperature superconductors, studies of various properties of novel carbon-based materials, and demonstrations of quantum computational algorithms. This article also briefly describes the progress on novel methods of magnetic resonance detection and sensitivity enhancement, including optical detection and optical pumping, electrical detection, and force detection.
