Development of ODS Superalloy Technology in Japan for Turbine Blade Applications

Abstract: The strength of ODS superalloys has not been so satisfactory as to attract much attention for application in turbine blades. As one of the advanced material program supported by MITI, cooperative works were undertaken to develop ODS superalloys superior to monocrystalline alloys. Mechanical properties of new ODS alloys developed in Japan were summarized to evaluate their potentials for turbine blade applications. The project tasks included isothermal forging and diffusion bonding studies for blade fabrication.
