Development of patient-centred standards of care for osteoarthritis in Europe: the eumusc.net-project

Abstract: (RPE) and percentage of 1RM while performing resisted knee extension, and (2) to examine test-retest reliability of RPE in a general population of adults. Methods: Following determination of 1RM, participants performed 1-3 repetitions of knee extension at ten equal increments of the determined 1RM (10%-100% of 1RM) in random order. Participants stated perceived exertion rating for each level of resistance. This protocol was repeated 5-10 days later to determine test-retest reliability. Spearman rho correlation… Show more

“…The aim was to achieve a set of 15–20 HCQIs for both HKOA and RA, as this number seems to be the maximum with respect to feasibility in daily practice, to limit the paperwork burden. Furthermore, this number is in line with the number of indicators in existing sets of guidelines for HKOA and RA described by Strömbeck et al () and Stoffer et al ().…”

“…MOCs are guides or frameworks that describe the principles of disease‐specific, evidence‐informed health care that should be delivered to consumers in a given setting, that is, the right care, at the right time, delivered by the right team, in the right place, using the right resources . MOCs are enablers of the implementation of clinical guidelines and standards of care, such as those developed through the Eumusc.Net initiative . A range of MOCs have been developed and implemented for musculoskeletal models, as reviewed recently , and for chronic noncommunicable diseases more generally .…”

“…Our study has a number of important strengths: we recruited a large expert sample relative to other comparable studies in arthritis care,12 13 20 27 30 31 our sample was cross-disciplinary with a spread of practice locations across the country, our response rate remained very high across all three rounds, and we achieved a high level of support for the final set of themes. Our sample was purposely weighted towards rheumatologists to reflect the discipline most usually involved across the continuum of care from contraception through to early parenting.…”
