Home textile is the most common business line in Denizli, Turkey. However, most companies are not integrated, i.e., they do not include the entire production processes in their facilities. Different stages of manufacturing process are outsourced to other companies located in the same geographic region. As a result of this, there is a considerable increase in transportation costs. In this paper, we consider collaboration between companies in a cluster to reduce their transportation costs. A game theoretic approach is proposed such that the subcontractors can be used jointly and their fabric production capacity can be split among the companies in the coalition in order to meet their demands. A case study of four home textile companies is provided to illustrate the approach. Coalition cost is allocated using different cost allocation methods, and compared to the current situation, we obtain significant cost reductions.

Supplier selection is an important issue in supply chain management (SCM) which, as with most dimensions of business, has been strongly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Previous research on the clothing and textiles (C&T) industry has overlooked efforts to provide a regular reference method for addressing the problem of supplier selection. This study discusses the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on, and the relative importance of, supplier selection implementation. This study applied fuzzy techniques for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and multisegment goal programming (MSGP) method to the problem of supplier selection and combined these two methods to propose a novel multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) method to be used by C&T companies. It proposes a simple method to provide decision-makers (DMs) with guidelines for supplier selection considering existing constraints on business resources. The advantage of this method is the incorporation of both qualitative and quantitative criteria (e.g., both tangible and intangible resources), which allows DMs to set multisegment aspiration levels (MSALs) for supplier selection. A case study of a C&T manufacturer’s application of the model is also presented.

Application of models for supplier assessment and selection in the clothing industry remains relatively underexplored. To fill this gap, this research study introduces the following fuzzy hybrid models for evaluating and selecting suppliers for clothing manufacturing firms: fuzzy set theory, Analytic Hierarchy Process method–fuzzy-Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (AHP–fuzzy-TOPSIS), AHP–fuzzy-Weighted Sum Model (WSM), and AHP–fuzzy-Weighted Product Mean (WPM). Criteria weights were established utilizing these models, which were applied to identify the optimal supplier. A practical study was conducted within a clothing firm to evaluate the effectiveness of these fuzzy hybrid models. The main results reveal that the AHP–fuzzy-TOPSIS model outperforms the AHP–fuzzy-WSM and AHP–fuzzy-WPM models in selecting the optimal alternative. Indeed, this approach has the potential to be adapted to different industrial sectors, considering the specific criteria and conditions that govern their supplying processes.
