Development of Sustainable Production of Rainfed Winter Wheat with No-Till Technologies in Southern Kazakhstan

Abstract: The production of rainfed crops in arid regions is an extremely difficult task, especially without tillage. In southern Kazakhstan, in 2020–2021, the approbation of various nutrition regimes for winter wheat grown in conditions of no-tillage rainfed lands has been studied. The effect of different doses and terms of application of growth stimulators, micronutrients, bio-fertilizers and mineral fertilizers, as well as their economic efficiency, was studied in ten variables. The use of a combination of growth sti… Show more

“…The conservation agriculture concept includes increase soil organic matter, minimize tillage, rotate crops, plant and animal residue management, and cover crops as key elements (Farooq and Siddique, 2015;Jayaraman et al, 2021). Currently, about 75% of the territories of Kazakhstan are subject to an increased risk of desertification, more than 30.5 million hectares are subject to soil erosion by wind and water, and 54% of these territories are located in the southern part of Kazakhstan (Turebayeva et al, 2022). In recent years, systemic measures have been taken in agriculture field in the Kazakhstan to apply highly efficient resource conserving technologies.…”

“…Ansari et al (2023), monoculture adoption usually leads to soil degradation and reduced crop yields, while the concept of conservation agriculture aims at obtaining acceptable profits while preserving the environment, therefore, double cropping with reduced tillage and utilization of crop residues is recommended. S. Turebayeva et al (2022) report that proper and rational use of fertilizers can improve soil fertility and crop yields, while haphazard application of mineral fertilizers can have a negative impact. The main measure to protect the soil from contamination by mineral fertilizers and related compounds is scientifically justified fertilizer application at the optimal time.…”
