Development of the food and processing industry as a factor in ensuring food security

Abstract: The article assesses the level of self-sufficiency in Russia with basic food products and their economic accessibility. The role of the food and processing industry in achieving food independence is shown. An analysis of food production and consumption, as well as the main indicators of industry development over a five-year period (2017-2021) is presented. The main problems in these areas are listed. It is noted that their solution requires more active participation of government institutions.
