“…For practical application, steel parts are usually joined by welding, which can introduce residual stresses and heterogeneous microstructures [1,2] that can result in locally inferior mechanical properties compared to the base material. For example, the fatigue life of welds is shorter than that of the base material due to welding defects [3,4] or heat-affected zone (HAZ) softening [5,6], where fatigue fracture occurs in these regions.
