Exploring job search practices and the challenges in the hiring procedures encountered by both job seekers and human resource (HR) professionals can inform recruitment and selection policies and practices commonly used in developing countries. An analysis conducted in Ghana of 2,418 job ads, augmented with input from 40 job seekers and 10 HR professionals, sheds light on the role of HR management in a developing country. The findings, which revealed job hunters' concerns regarding partiality and the transparency of the recruitment and selection processes, highlighted the need to update local HR professionals' skills and strategies. Improvement in these areas can help enterprises in both the public and private sector attract and retain the qualified employees needed to enhance organizational operations.
