DFT Study of Structural and Electronic Properties of PdO/HZSM-5

Abstract: A density functional theory (DFT) study has been conducted to investigate the structural and electronic properties of PdO/HZSM-5 and thereby the relationship between PdO and the acid sites of HZSM-5. Different cluster models of PdO/HZSM-5 based on experimental and theoretical works are presented. The study shows that the local structure of PdO supported on HZSM-5 is very similar to the four-coordinated square planar structure of bulk PdO. This is consistent with the reported EXAFS analysis in the literature. T… Show more

“…In the case of Pd/La 2 O 3, interactions between the metal particles and support have been detected [21]. Based on the previous studies detachment and migration of the proton in zeolite cages is supposed to be almost [22,23] or partly perfect [13,24]. In the latter case a Pd cluster interacting with a proton in a bridging position between the zeolite wall and the cluster is also considered as a metal-proton complex [Pd n -H m ] m?…”

“…Carboxylic acid can bind to metal via either the oxygen lone pair electrons or the carboxylate systems. [15][16][17] Depending on the binding mechanism, the adsorbed carboxylic acid will assume different orientations on the surface. In order to deepen our understanding of the interaction of carboxylic acid with the metal surface, a more thorough investigation than that hitherto performed seems necessary.…”

“…Now, SERS technology has been well established for obtaining detailed information on molecules adsorbed on the surfaces of silver, gold, or other noble metals, such as the adsorption configuration of molecules and the interaction mechanism of the molecules with the surfaces of substrates [2][3][4][5][6][7], in which many researchers are interested.…”
