Diabetic foot infection caused by Burkholderia cepacia complex: Report of an unusual case with a scoping literature review

Abstract: According to previous publications, Burkholderia cepacia complex (BCC) species are widely described pathogens in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients but not in individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM). We report a diabetic foot infection caused by BCC in a 42-year-old male patient who responded clinically after surgical debridement and meropenem monotherapy. In addition, a scoping review was constructed to map BCC infections in patients with DM.
