Abstract: The Swiss National Guidelines 2013 for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease have been revised in order to acknowledge recent progress in diagnosis and management of this disease. The resulting new Swiss recommendations are based on best evidence from the literature, the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) 2018 report and other published national guidelines. “…The pathological feature of COPD is complicated by chronic bronchitis, small airway fibrosis and emphysema [4,21]. To further investigate the role of Rcn3 in emphysema, the mouse model of emphysema by intra-trachea administration of PPE was used in the current study.…”

“…Chronic bronchitis and emphysema are the main pathological features of COPD [3]. Emphysema is characterized by the enlargement of air space and the destruction of the parenchymal structure leading to progressive airflow limitation [1,4]. The effective treatment for emphysema is limited, due to the insufficient knowledge regarding alveolar structural recovery and reconstruction in emphysema.…”

Although COPD is a preventable and treatable disease, it still brings heavy economic burden to family and the society [4][5][6]. However, the pathogenesis of COPD is not completely elucidated, and it is the long-term interaction of many factors including environmental factors and genetic factors [7].…”
