Abstract: IntroductionSepsis is a dysregulated host response to infection characterised by activation of proinflammatory and procoagulant mechanisms. Protein C (PC)’s activity as an anticoagulant and antiinflammatory molecule makes it an appealing target for sepsis biomarker studies.
