he coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic ravaged India over the last 18 months, particularly in the second wave (March-June 2021). During this period, India reported 29 977 61 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 389 302 deaths. 1 India also witnessed an unexpected epidemic of fungal infection, mucormycosis, in the second wave. As of June 7, 2021, 28 000 cases of mucormycosis were reported from India. 2
METHODSWe performed systematic search using keywords "Mucormycosis, " "COVID19, " and "stroke" in the Pubmed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Google Scholar, Cochrane, and Scopus databases till June 7, 2021. Personal communications of unpublished and ongoing studies were also included. The authors declare that all supporting data are available within the article.
